JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks that a Boiler Fitter is expected to perform include:

Sizing and fitting various components and mountings to boilers
-
Assisting Boiler Maker in preparing boilers for steam and hydraulic tests
-
Marking components according to drawings and sizing them accurately by chipping, filing, drilling, reaming, tapping, scrapping, etc.

Locating carefully positioning of different mountings
-
Fitting external water and lubrication pipes
-
Assisting Boiler maker in cleaning of pipes, connecting pump, sealing etc.
-
Undertaking riveting, caulking, replacing of worn out and defective parts

WORK ENVIRONMENT 2
- Local travelling is a part of this job role
- Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities
- Work from home option is not available
| Working hours- Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company
- Shift system maybe available
- Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
KEY COMPETENCIES

Competent in belling and beading with power hammers

Efficient in bolting arc-weld pressure vessel structures and parts together

Well-versed in using wrenches and welding equipment
-
Equipped to examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, and vats
-
Competent in locating defects such as leaks, weak spots, and defective sections
-
Proficient in inspecting assembled vessels and individual components
-
Equipped to install manholes, hand holes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges
-
Ability to straighten or reshape bent plates or structure, using hammer, jacks, and torch
