JOB DESCRIPTION ¹

The tasks an Assistant Electrician is expected to perform include:

Assisting Level-4 Electrician or senior officer in electrical work for the installation, repair and maintenance of temporary LV electrical connections at the construction sites and permanent connections at residential and commercial buildings
Laying conduits for LV single phase wiring with appropriate selection and using handheld and power tools efficiently

Working hours

Working hours are 8/9 hours a day for 5/6 days a week. This may vary from organization to organization

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING ¹

Minimum – 10th Class
Certified training for Assistant Electrician (programme aligned to CON/Q0602 job released by Construction Skill Development Council)

KEY COMPETENCIES ¹

Skilled in reading and interpreting single line diagram (SLD) and schematics, wiring diagrams of electrical connections
Skilled in interpreting manufacturer’s guidelines/specifications for use of hand and power tools and measuring devices
Knowledge of using electrical measuring/diagnostic devices to undertake required tests to install and maintain electrical circuits
Basic knowledge of AC and DC currents and circuits
Knowledge of types of wires, cables based on their insulation and their respective uses in LV electrical works

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES ¹

Training for 12 to 16 weeks to qualify test & assessment by authorized agency for behaviour, knowledge & skill as per all relevant NOS for Assistant Electrician Level‐3
