JOB DESCRIPTION 1
The tasks an Electrician, Stage and Studio is expected to perform include:
  • Controlling lighting equipment, such as flood lights, spot lights, etc.
  • Casting, placing and moving spotlights in specified locations in the theater 
  • Connecting wiring for lighting 
  • Cleaning and adjusting lights 
  • Replacing carbon or bulbs, as needed
  • Inserting varicoloured gelatin sheets in fame to assemble colour wheel

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Needs to be on their toes

  • Need not handle a team

  • Local travelling is part of this job role

  • Part-time work and contractual jobs are available in some cities

  • Work from home option is not available

Working hours

  • Companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/10 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company

  • Being self-employed is also an option. In this case, the working hours and days will be flexible

  • Shift system maybe available

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 4
Minimum - 8th Standard

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1
Knowledge of controlling lighting equipment like flood lamps, strip lights, spotlights, etc.
Knowledge of placing spotlights in specified locations
Proficient in moving spotlight to follow movements of performers with beam of light
Well-versed in turning colour wheel to cause light to be diffused through various coloured gelatin disks
Competent in cleaning and adjusting light, replacing carbons or bulbs as required
Skilled in inserting various  coloured gelatin sheets in frame to assemble colour wheel
